Stephen Cook, MD

Dr. Cook grew up in San Mateo, Calif., a San Francisco suburb. He received his Bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1988 and taught high school for several years in Maine before returning to the Bay Area, where he graduated from the University of California - San Francisco School of Medicine. During medical school, he was named a Nicholas J. Pisacano Scholar, one of six students chosen nationally as outstanding students dedicated to family practice. He was a finalist at graduation for the Gold-Headed Cane, awarded to the student who "best exemplifies the values of the true physician" and was chosen by his peers to be a commencement speaker.

Stephen (Steve) Cook, MD, is a Primary Care Physician at the Paladina HealthTM clinic in Tacoma, Wash. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Prior to joining Paladina Health Group of Washington and practicing at the Paladina Health clinic, Dr. Cook served from 2003-2012 as a family medicine physician at Community Health Care, where he provided a full spectrum of family practice care and championed electronic medical records. He has also served as a consultant to the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority in implementation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. In 2006, Dr. Cook contributed several chapters to the third edition of Essential Family Medicine: Fundamentals and Case Studies, and he served as the editor of the Washington Academy of Family Practice Journal from 2002-2003. Dr. Cook moved to Washington, where he completed his residency in 2000 at Tacoma Family Medicine. He practiced in Mt. Vernon, Wash., before marrying a Tacoma native, thereby becoming a Tacoma lifer. He and his wife, Wendi, live in Tacoma?s North End and have three children and a terrific dog.
