Sonya Black, MD

Sonya Black, MD, is passionate about getting to know her patients and collaborating in the ways that work best for them. As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Black has practiced in a variety of settings, including primary care and urgent care, and brings her breadth of experiences to each patient she cares for. Originally from northern California, Dr. Black completed her undergraduate studies at Scripps College, and went on to earn her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She then moved to Colorado to continue her training at University of Colorado's Rose Family Medicine Residency, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Black's career has included clinical and leadership roles in private-practice family medicine, direct primary care, urgent care, and at Kaiser Permanente. She was drawn to Everside Health for the opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine to patients of all ages, with ample time to spend with each patient. She is enthusiastic about bringing Everside Health to the Lowry community, where she and her daughters live. Dr. Black believes the key to providing excellent medical care lies in carefully reviewing her patients' past experiences and discussing their goals for moving forward. She is a strong proponent of patient education and ensures her patients thoroughly understand the pros and cons of their treatment options. A devoted and caring doctor, she still takes care of many of the patients she met at the beginning of her career. When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Black loves watching her favorite soccer team, Liverpool F.C., and cheering on her daughters who play competitive soccer. She coached girls soccer teams for many years to inspire the love of the sport and to mentor girls to be strong team players and leaders.
