Maureen Wellman, FNP

Maureen Wellman is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the State of West Virginia. Born and raised in New Jersey, she began her healthcare career by serving in the United States Army where she specialized as a field medic. Maureen earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University. While completing her bachelor’s degree, she worked full-time as a Hospice nurse and later in the field of oncology. She has been certified by both the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and by the Oncology Nursing Society. In 2011 Maureen and her husband moved from South Carolina to his home state of West Virginia so they could be closer to family. She took a position in a family practice clinic and found she had a passion for helping patients who were battling chronic diseases to achieve better health. Maureen was inspired to expand her education and returned to school in 2016. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV. She is strongly committed to treating the physical and emotional needs of her patients and is focused on the primary prevention of disease as well as the management of chronic and acute illnesses. Maureen is married to Jack Wellman, a retired coal miner. Together they are raising their two young daughters, caring for their parents and hiking in the WV hills whenever possible.
