Your Questions, Answered.
What is Paladina Health?
Paladina Health is a national on-site, near-site and virtual primary care provider that offers employer/organization-sponsored, membership-based healthcare. That means that we operate patient-centered health centers where members can get 90% of the medical services they need from an experienced doctor, usually at little to no cost to them.
Paladina Health doctors are dedicated to your healthcare and are easy to reach at convenient locations near your home or work, as well as virtually (via phone or video). Our Doctors strive to provide a personal level of care and are available around the clock via phone for urgent health matters.
Why is Orion Registrar offering this benefit?
Employees, employers and insurance companies have seen significant healthcare cost increases each year and we’re on a mission to fix the broken healthcare delivery model that causes them. By partnering with us, Orion Registrar has chosen to offer you an additional choice to address the cost and quality of the healthcare you receive. Your membership gives you high-quality, low- or no-cost primary care through your Paladina Health doctor. Ultimately, this innovative approach to primary care is designed to help you get and stay healthier and to lower your overall healthcare costs.
Who’s eligible to sign up for Paladina Health?
All Orion Registrar employees and their eligible dependents who are covered by Orion Registrar medical insurance plans are eligible to receive Paladina Health services.
What’s different about Paladina Health compared to my current primary care provider?
Paladina Health provides primary care services for you and your family but is very different than a traditional primary care provider. As a Paladina Health member, you have 24/7 access to your doctor. Our providers also offer a scope of services that’s broader than a typical primary care practice – everything from routine checkups and urgent needs to chronic condition management and mental health screenings. You’ll be able to receive care for most of your healthcare needs through your Paladina Health center—in-person or virtually (via phone or video). And when you need specialist services or care that can’t be provided at your Paladina Health center, we’ll stay by your side, helping you navigate the healthcare system.
Does choosing the Paladina Health option increase my healthcare costs?
No, it should do just the opposite. A visit to a Paladina Health provider can save you an expensive trip to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care, and most visits are at little to no cost for preventive and non-preventive services. There’s also no charge for phone, secure messaging or other remote interactions with your doctor. Paladina Health services cover a wide array of the most common tests and procedures. There are some tests and procedures that are billed to your primary insurance at rates that are usually much lower than with other providers. Services that aren’t covered by your Paladina Health membership may still be covered by your insurance plan through Orion Registrar.
How experienced are Paladina Health doctors?
Paladina Health doctors are board-certified or board-eligible, usually with a minimum of eight to 10 years of experience as a practicing provider. Our doctors see 70% fewer patients than a typical primary care provider, allowing them to spend more time with you when you need it, start appointments on time and provide you with appointment availability in the timeframes that meet the urgency of your health issue.
Do I have to change my primary care provider (PCP) to Paladina to use Paladina services?
No, Paladina Health is an optional benefit that functions as an add-on to your existing health plan. You don’t need to switch doctors or stop seeing a preferred specialist—you can see Paladina Health providers as well as your existing providers. It’s designed to be so convenient that you can usually make appointments for your entire family on the same day.
Why should I consider changing my PCP to Paladina (or designating a Paladina provider as my PCP if I don’t have one)?
We recommend that you make your Paladina Health doctor your first point of contact for any health concerns. They provide a personalized level of service and truly care about getting to know you. They can also help you manage your overall care, so instead of waiting to see a specialist to receive care, you can take advantage of the variety of services we offer at our health centers and through virtual care. We recommend that immediately after signing up, you schedule your first welcome appointment so your doctor can get to know you, your health history and concerns, and answer any questions you may have. Then, you can take some time to see if this health benefit works for you.
What happens if I experience an urgent health issue after hours or if I’m away from home?
Simply call your Paladina Health center and you will be connected to your doctor. They’ll respond to your concerns no matter where you are or when you call because they’re available for urgent situations 24 hours a day, every day of the week, including holidays.
How’s Paladina Health different from an urgent care clinic?
We don’t have the long wait times that you may experience when going to a walk-in clinic. Scheduling your appointment for same-day or next-day urgent needs allows you to get in at your scheduled appointment time instead of waiting behind the people in front of you. You can also choose to schedule a virtual appointment from the comfort of your own home (via phone or video).
What if I have a pediatrician for my children that I already like?
You don’t need to switch doctors. We know that many parents have established relationships with pediatricians. You may choose to sign your children up but continue a relationship with their existing pediatrician. Your Paladina Health provider can be an additional option for your kids’ healthcare needs as they see patients of all ages. Typically, it takes less time to get an appointment at your Paladina Health center than it does at a pediatrician’s office. Also, your Paladina Health doctor—not an answering service—is available 24/7, including nights and weekends.
I take a lot of medications. How does Paladina Health help make it easier for me to manage refills and dosage changes?
Refill requests and many dosage adjustments can be handled remotely (via phone or online) with your doctor and called in to your pharmacy of choice without the need for an in-person office visit.
Why should I sign up for Paladina Health now?
It never fails. Injuries and illnesses happen on weekends and evenings when most doctor practices are closed. That’s usually the time you most need access to a trusted medical professional. With your Paladina Health membership, you’ll have access to 24/7 care after your first appointment. However, it’s important to first build a relationship with your care doctor. You’ll want your doctor to know you, your medical history and your health concerns long before you get sick. Plus, Paladina Health employs screening protocols that may catch a health issue that can be treated, preventing it from becoming an urgent situation or a chronic condition.
